chatac's Full Review: The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time for Nintendo 6...
I hate RPG type games. (Role Playing Games) I spend about 80% of my playing time staring at a screen that says "Game Over". Soooooooo.... as a result of this lack of skill I am probably the last person on earth to play Zelda64 Ocarina of Time.
First off...the music alone is enough to capture the attention of anyone with in hearing distance. Haunting melodies that strike a chord in the heart, and linger in the mind hours after you turn the thing off. I have a section on my personal home page on the net that I placed "Zelda's Lullaby" on and have gotten a lot of e-mail from people asking where the music came from. Other melodies are bright tempo and upbeat, it just makes your foot start tapping.
This game is actually many firsts for me. It is the first N64 game I have played, in fact other than in stores, the first N64 game I have really seen. So from my fresh view, the graphics and game play are astoundingly smooth and brilliantly colored. Up till the release of the Sega Dreamcast, nothing has compared with the richness of this game.
The game itself has it's high points and low points for a novice gamer. The bosses are beatable, but it took a lot of practice and getting several butt whippings before I got the hang of some of them. Lucky for me, my best friends 8 year old visited my house and we worked out a very nice solution to my problem. I became the brain, the person who thought up strategy, and he became the brawn. The actual butt kicker. Hey! It worked !
Over all, Zelda64 Ocarina of Time is a wonderful audio and beautiful visual tour of a world in need of a hero. The game is worth playing over and over time and time again.
