| iiijay's Full Review: Gran Turismo 2 for PlayStation 1 |
Once in a short while, a new game is released. Sometimes, this game will either be one of the best damn games, or one of the worst. When Gran Turismo 1 came out in mid 1998, it brought every single racing game to it's knees. But, when Gran Turismo 2 was released, it once again proved to be one of the best racing games on the planet. Not only did it have superior control and replay value, it also had glitches. Small, tiny, major, glitches. For the long-time GT2 gamers, many of you should notice the number of glitches this game has had, and I have to agree, they really suck. In this section of mine I am attempting to cover every single glitch recorded on the game, as it should greatly acknowledge begining gamers to beware.
I have did some research and found these glitches:
Glitch #1: BMW's can't fit any rims
Glitch #2: Acura is in East City in the Japanese version, but it is in South City in the US version. It's not even listed on the South City map. (Probably Acura is more Americanized than Japanese)
Glitch #3: Reported in an import of GT2, people can use the Mitsubishi FTO GPX in Muscle Car, Wagon, and Luxury Races. O.o
Glitch #4: The sound screws up, such as strange engine noises, turbo, music, etc.
Glitch #5: In Arcade mode, one of the tracks (Motor Sports Land, I guess) allows you to drive out of the track onto nothing.
Glitch #6: On two player battle, the track "sucks" you into the corner and you lose all control over your car.
Glitch #7: MANY people have come back from using the machine test only to find their garage empty. All cars wiped out. I urge you NEVER to use Machine test unless you are being held at gunpoint.
Glitch #8: The ride height is measured in inches, not millimeters. Who would want a car that rides 110 inches off the ground? -_-
Glitch #9: NO DRAG RACING! What were Sony and Polyphony thinking when they put in the "Drag Racing" section on the reference manual?!
Glitch #10: The Car wash says it requires 5,000 Credits, but is really 50 Credits.
Glitch #11: Actually, you can enter quite a number of cars into "Car-Type Only Races", such as Muscle, Luxury, among others.
Glitch #12: As far as I know it is impossible to win 100% of the game. The farthest you may reach is 98.9% complete (this includes manufacturers events.)
