You know the video game consoles are in the heat of battle now with Sega Dreamcast, Sony Playstation2 soon on the horizon, and XBox and Gamecube both looming soon thereafter on the horizion, with some of the hottest looking games and trendsetting video games to grace consoles througout the land. But if you ask me one questions, Which system was the best console ever made?
You'll get 1 Emphatic answer! Nintendo 8 Bit System by far and away takes the cake and let me tell you why. Even though Atari and Commodore among many others came out with their own systems earlier and made some of the most known games of all time (Hint Pac Man, Defender, Galaga, Miss Pac Man, Frogger, and let's not forget PONG!!) Nintendo was just on the ball in nearly every way.
Nintendo was the name to beat back then and still is up to a point today. The reason why this system is the #1 contender for best console ever is due to several multicomponent reasons which I will now go into.
#1. Number of Games - If you ever wanted a system with the largest amount of games this system is the one that takes the cake. Along with the huge arsenal of games, of course you will get your Duds but their were just so many great games that now are taking it to the next level on subsequent systems. Here's examples of some of the many great games that made this system MAD HOT to own at the time - Mario Bros, Mario 2, Mario 3, 1942, Ghosts and Goblins, Castlevania series, Metal Gear Solid series,
Bubble Bobble, Bad Dudes, Bases Loaded, Batman, Battletoads, Bionic Commanddo, Galaxy Blaster, Contra series, Excitebike, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Ikari Warriors and Hundreds if not thousands of other excellent games made by many other various Companies.
#2. Made Video Games a Nation Wide Appeal - Nintendo was the 1st system that truly opened the mass consumer/public to the great enjoyment that could be found playing video games. Once Nintendo got ahold of people with their system it just took Off and hasn't stopped since.
#3. Brand Name Series that Originated on NES - Pertaining to point #1, NES was the system that broke so much ground in terms of quality and variety, and it introduced so many series that have been True Classics on far powerful systems(Playstation, N64) that owe all of its success to the games that first made their debut appearance on the NES such as Metal Gear Solid, Mega Man, Castlevania, among many other great Classics we now are accustomed to.
#4. Pokemon - Actually this is more a Necessary Evil, but for many kids among the world, it was Nintendo that blessed in their case, but cursed us with the introduction of Pokemon craze that now results in many crazed kids througout the whole world! Take this with a grain of salt(LOL)
To Put this in Perspective, Nintendo(NES) 8Bit system was the best their was, the Best their Ever Will be and if you don't have one, I highly suggest you pick one up to see how much fun can be had on the Best System ever Made!
