| arsteinh's Full Review: Railroad Tycoon 2 for Windows |
The object of this game is to build a railroad company. You build stations in cities and near valuable resources. You build tracks to connect the stations and buy trains to move resources from station to station. Then you have to organize how many cars and of what type to attach to each train. Things get really crazy when you have to compete with other railroad companies. Then things get really crazy when you get into playing the personnel finance side of the game. You invest in stocks, bonds, and buy factories and other resources available in the game. Endless fun.
What an terribly addictive game this is. I was a big fan of the first Railroad Tycoon and I'd been waiting for years for someone to release a newer version. So when this game came out, I purchased it the first day. That was a really long time ago (I don't even remember how long ago). Ever since, I go through period in which I play it every day until I can't sleep because I keep dreaming about building railroads. It gets so bad, that I have to force myself to stop playing just so I can get some normal, trainfree sleep.
There's no violence and the graphics are very good, but nothing special. If you like strategy games, you'll enjoy Railroad Tycoon II. Its a well designed game with endless scenarios, a large number of maps, and enough levels of difficulty to keep you challenged forever. This is one of my all time favorite games.
