I bought Nightmare Creatures thinking that this game was going to be very good. I had seen the TV commercials and read the reviews and like what I saw and read.
Nightmare Creatures is not a complex game. It is pretty much a kill everything in site game. The graphics could be better. The sound is the best part of the game. The story line is not much to talk about. You get to choose from two different characters, a man and a woman. They are both fun to play with. I prefer the woman; she is faster than the man is. You start out in a graveyard and progress through the game looking for this little man that keeps escaping from you. There are zombies and other assorted creatures through out the game. There are also bosses mixed in there as well. The mazes that you enter into are complex and somewhat annoying at times. There are some secret areas that you can find through the course of the game as well. As you play the game you can pick up many weapons and health items. There are a wide variety of weapons that you can use to destroy monsters. When you kill a monster there is blood and body parts everywhere. One challenging aspect of this game is that there is a vile on the left side of the screen. If it goes empty you die. In order to keep this vile full, you must advance in the game and kill monsters. There are a variety of moves each character has to perform. Each character has his or hers unique way of fighting. There is also a map feature, which makes it easier to maneuver through the complex mazes that you will encounter.
This game is fun at first, but not that challenging as you play. You will find yourself toying with the monsters and looking for things to do. This is a good game if it ever becomes a greatest hit and the price tag is $19.99. Hopefully Nightmare Creatures II will be better than the original.
