Yes.. I was there. I had to be. I had to work there. Even though I was tired of standing on my feet all day and meeting thousands of people, I still made time to go around and see around.
Where should I start? Let's start off with Sega, since they're at the bottom of my book. Sega had dancers, roller bladers, and really loud music aside from the video game booths. It seemed to me as though they were trying really hard to get everyone's attention.
Sony and Nintendo were more on the mellow side but also had a lot to offer. Nintendo had lots and lots of Pokemon games. I was able to play with the Pickachu game where you tell Pika to do things and he'll follow your commands. There was also a tetris style Pokemon game, Banjo and Tooie(Banjo and Kadzooie part 2), the new Zelda game, the new Star wars game, a role playing Mario game and more. Their setup was just awesome. They had a gigantic setup of Pickachu with his fellow Pokemon and a huge area with tv screens previewing the games and Pokemon 2000 movie. I was able to get cool pictures and lots of free stuff!
As for Playstation.. what can I say, I had to work there. We weren't all about loud music and go go dancers, we didn't need that. The pudding was in the cake, the games that is. We did have a few Playstaion 2's available for playing. And let me say that the new system kicks butt! We also had a theater that featured the Playstation 2 and some of its games.
Aside from this area, there were hundreds and hundreds of third party companies such as Mattel, Eidos, and SquareSoft. Every booth had different things going on, they were giving away free stuff, and overall it was all about who got who's attention. The convention center is huge so it took me a while to see it all.. but it was worth it! And heck, I didn't have to pay any of money to go see it either. If you did have to pay for it, I'm sure you'd say it was worth it! If you have never gone, make plans on going next year!
