SublimeFan's Full Review: Grand Theft Auto for Game Boy Color
To start, a short poem:
Grand Theft Auto for the Playstation, how I honor you.
You brought me many hours of fun, less hours of sleep.
How I look at the cops run, and laugh.
For I ran one over, the donut shop goes out of business.
Grand Theft Auto for Game Boy Color is truely an amazing upbringing for the folks at Rockstar Games. They have finally released a game that is worthy to be used on a Nintendo game system. With so many efforts before, this game finally got it right!
Grand Theft Auto follows almost every aspect of Grand Theft Auto for Sony Playstation. In fact, it is pretty much the same game, which makes it amazing. The game contains the same levels in the game, including all the same weapons and power-ups. In fact, I can't even think of a new aspect included in this game. I wasn't shocked that it was nothing new, but I was shocked how the game played on the Game Boy Color. Although the graphics are a little weak, I see much more in the game that is strong. The graphics and music are the weak point of this game, but when do you ever see good graphics and music on Game Boy?
The game is the exact same game as the Playstation version, which i can't say enough times! I found the fact that this game could be fit onto one cartridge amazing, including the fact new characters were crammed in, but that doesn't really affect the gameplay in any way. I spent almost as much time with this game as I did with the Playstation version, but I always ended up going back to the Playstation version, desiring more colors, and a new supply of cars.
I would have to suggest this game to anyone who has never played the Grand Theft Auto games before. I find the ideas in the game funny, and should be enjoyed by all. If you have played GTA before on Playstation, and thought it was nothing special, then don't bother. Although if you played the original on Playstation, and liked it the littlest bit, then this pocket version is necessary. It satisfies your every "dirty" need, including running over people, including the blood!
