| dmfokjf's Full Review: Nintendo NES |
The original NES Nintendo Entertainment System was released just fifteen years ago. I can remember the exact day it came out. Well not really but I am sure there are a lot of people out there who can. When I bought this system perhaps around 1986, it came with the system, two controllers, and Mario. Who can forget about Mario? You could purchase all of this today for about 25$ at the most, and believe me it is still well worth your money. Mario is still a pretty tough game to beat once you get to the 6th and 7th worlds.
The Nintendo
The Nintendo doesn't make people go "OOH and AAH" anymore, but that doesn't take away all of the fun you can enjoy when playing these "ANCIENT" games. The Nintendo has eight bits of graphics equal to one sixth of its latest system releases the Nintendo 64. And one twelth of what its upcoming system will have that should be released sometime in the year 2001 called The Nintendo Dolphin. None the less its still well worth your money.
I have seen Nintendo's around some old video game stores and they sell for about fifteen dollars. And that is NOT much especially for the quality you will get. Best fifteen dollars you will ever spend. You can buy Nintendo games anywhere from .99$ all the way up to seven or eight bucks. In this review I will go over some of the games you may want to consider that are very fun and entertaining. I'm sure you have heard of most of them but just in case you have not, I will name all of my personal favorites.
The Thing That Can Make Or Break A System
GAMES. Notice I wrote the word in both Bold and italics. I don't care if a system has the most power, graphics, and speed of any system out there this is what it all boils down to--GAMES. Let's compare both the Nintendo 64 and the Playstation. For the most part everyone thinks the Playstation is better. But everyone has to agree that the Nintendo 64 has better graphics. So why is the Playstatiion better you ask? GAMES. And that is where Nintendo rises and why it is exactly the best system there is out there.
Nintendo's Games
As I already mentioned Nintendo has some fantastic games in all kinds of genres.
Sports Games
Although there is nothing to be impressed with graphics wise even for the Nintendo I still picked out a couple sports games I liked. For basketball Double Dribble. I must have played this game for months as a kid. I played it from the time I got home from school until I went to sleep. Well not really that long but you get the point that I enjoyed it.
All of The RBI baseball series. Preferably RBI Baseball 3. This is one of the most fun baseball games I have ever played. It has all the classic players such as: Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, and Ken Griffey Jr. This game was flat out fun to play. Sadly, these are the only two sports games I enjoyed. Unfortunetely I never played a Nintendo football game that I enjoyed!
Action/Adventure
There are many action/adventure games that I liked on this system but I will narrow it down as well as I can.
Contra- The original Contra just can't be beat. Well actually enjoyed the second version better. Believe it or not I just realized there was a second version about five years ago. But it's never to late to pick up an old Nintendo game you have never heard of.
Super C- The second version of Contra that I never realized was ever in this world! As fun as it gets. Perhaps the most fun Contra game out there.
Metal Gear- You have probably heard about the latest version of Metal Gear on the Sony playstation. Well this is somewhat the same. With slightly worse graphics that is. But still as fun as any game on the Nintendo this game makes it on my list. Other games to check out of this genre are BIONIC COMMANDO and METROID.
Role Playing Games
Nintendo had a lot to offer in the RPG category. I did not know whether to put Mario into the RPG category or the Action category so I just put it here. Anyways...
The Legend of Zelda- The Legend of Zelda could be considered one of the best of all time. Definitely the best RPG on the Nintendo. No matter what I always have a few minutes to start up another Zelda game. I am sure you have heard of this game through the years.
All The Mario's- Preferably Mario 3. Super Mario three was definitely the best of them all. Make sure you get the whistles throughout your battles. It makes life a lot easier and a lot shorter.
My Favorite Boxing Game
Drumroll please....YES! My favorite boxing game ever is Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Basically the only boxing game I ever really enjoyed, and felt the need to play all the way through. You are little mac and have a trainer named Doc. Each fight lasts about a minute long, and there are three rounds at the most. You go through about a total of 20 fights, and it is NOT an easy task. Make sure you pick this one up.
Last Words
BUY THIS ASAP IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!
Conclusions
In Conclusion, the world couldn't have asked for a better system. There are so many games that I did not list that should be on here. If you don't have a Nintendo yet be sure that you pick up one ASAP. I recommend all of the games I mentioned above more than any other games. So don't let anyone else talk you into anything else. Please everyone leave comments. Did I miss something? Please leave a comment and tell me any games you recommend or that you feel I left out. Thanks.
