SinXeno's Full Review: Xenogears for PlayStation 1
This is one of the greatest RPG's ever. This game is filled with 9 characters each with there own special combos and/or special magic attacks. Each character is unique and has different spells or different combos. Some characters do not have strong attacks and rely more on spells. Vice Versa for other characters. Every character also has there own unique gear. Fei though, your main character, has 3 gears: Weltall, Weltall 2, and Xenogears. Some of your other characters get 2 gears or have great items for their gears, pretty much making each gear equal.
The way of learning combos on this game is unique and very good against power gamers. All your characters have the same amount of AP(Action Points). The three buttons: X, O, and square button each take up different amounts of AP and do different amounts of damage. X is the weakest and but takes only 1 AP. O takes up 2 and does medium damage. Square does the most damage and takes up 3 AP. You can attack multiple times until your AP are all gone. You learn combos by pressing the attacks in a certain order in which you learn the combo after a while. Your AP goes up through the game so combos get more complicated, but you can learn stronger attacks.
This game also has a very interesting, impeccable storyline. This game also has great graphics and cinematics. The controls are not very complicated at all and were easy to remember after playing the game for about an hour. There are also many secret weapons and items for both your character and your gear. There are very few problems with the game that I have noticed, like hard or confusing puzzles and some battles are extremely difficult. There are very few bugs in the game which makes the gameplay better. This game is definitely worth your time and your money.
