SS4Cloud's Full Review: Crystalis for Game Boy Color
I got this game because I needed it for a long plane ride because I was almost done my book. So I looked at a few games and decided to take Crystalis. I'm not disappointed. Even if the sound isn't the greatest and it's simple for the first half and it's not the longest game ever. I kept me doing something that was fun and enjoyable.
Story
The story to this game is quite good (you know, the one with the war). It makes sense and is fun to play. It has great graphics during the story. The story is a good one because it gets exciting, brings in an evil, a resistance to evil make a tool of power, evil overcomes, two great warriors are summoned to defeat evil.
Plot
The plot throughout this game is very fine because it works with the people you are playing and you realize more and more evil is becoming your problem and it gets harder and harder to deal with. The climax is nice although the "save the damsel in distress" is kind of cliched. Also I have head that this whole plot is a copy of one of the Final fantasy games I haven't played. Other than those few points it is a good plot.
Difficulty
What difficulty? If you have only started this game you may be wondering that yourself. But if you start to get past the middle point into the game and you are going about that mountain or the fortress of Goa you will know what I mean. This game has a VERY simple begining where the enemies are all easy to defeat and the tasks are easy to accomplish but when you get to further points it gets tough.
Battle System
One nice thing about this game is the battle system. It's totally original and easy to play. You can instantly figure it out and it's fun to use. That is very good.
Sound and Graphics
The sound is this game is a total remake of the original game. All the original sound was scrapped. The sound on this game can be annoying and some of it has a lot of static. However the graphics of this game are wonderful! They are clear, beatifully colored, and easy to understand. You can even pick out faces. This really adds to the game. The only downside is that in places with a lot of action there may be some flickering but it is temporary.
Overall
Overall this is a good enough game that I would recommend it to you even though it's not the best. Buy it if it's on sale otherwise go for something like Zelda: DX Links Awakening.
