Best GameBoy games of 1999
Mar 22 '00
Well, the year 1999 has come and gone, but left in it's wake are some outstanding games for the Nintendo GameBoy system.
First off, some background on myself (as a full-time user of this gaming system): a 30 year old professional male, a BA in Biology, married, no kids, and a 35-mile commute to work (one-way) everyday. Now, based on this information, one can see why a portable gaming system would be of some use. So, instead of the usual "fighting-type" games and "first-person shooting" games, I have chosen a couple of gamepaks that travel with me always - PokeMon (the red, blue and/or yellow version), and PokeMon Pinball.
While it may seem that kids everywhere are talking about PokeMon (and with spring and summer yet to come), there are also quite a few adults who are intrigued by this pseudo-world. I was drawn into the game mainly because of the role-playing features of the games. The PokeMon red, blue and yellow (hereafter known as PRBY) series is a terrific way for adults to start exploring this world. The objects of the game is easy to grasp, but it takes quite awhile to get to really know the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents. All in all, it is a game that will keep you coming back for more, and the re-playability of these games are very high.
PokeMon pinball, however, *IS* an action game, but more suited to the pinball enthusiast. Like the PokeMon games that came before it, the object of the game is to capture all the different PokeMon in the world, and there are alot of them...around 150, I believe. I have had this game for about 6 months, and have yet to complete this game, yet, I keep coming back for more - "...maybe *THIS* time I'll capture Eevee...". Again, the re-playability of this game pak is very high, and should keep adults entertained on those long commutes...or meetings!
Well, that's all for now...I guess I will be trying out the PokeMon card game for the GameBoy that comes out in April, so until then, I've gotta CATCH 'EM ALL!... :-)
