Pros: Fun to play, good for beginners perhaps.
Cons: Levels can be a little bit unchallenging, too few cars to choose from.

Cute really does describe this game. Long straightaway courses with few sharp turns, wacky locales (driving through the grand canyon? Isn't there a river down there instead of a highway?), and cartoon indestructible cars make this game a cute (have I said cute enough?) escape from reality. Lots of fun but don't expect a gamers rush from this one.
I'm not an enthusiastic fan of the Crusin series, but this game did deliver an enjoyable experience and it was actually possible to get into the competitive spirit and want to beat the computer. Some of the courses were annoying and almost impossible not to crash on (redwood forest probably the most guilty of this), but it's all part of the escapist fun. At least the game pulled its own weight and gives the player an enjoyable experience.
As for the levels, the graphics have had a lot of work put into them and really look great. The San Francisco level is especially believable, and probably one of the most fun levels in the game to race, because it gives you a narrow 2 lane road with a lot of turns, probably the most in the game, yet manages it keep it possible to navigate without a crash that would probably end the race and your life in the real world.
All of that being said, this game is fine if you're just looking for some fun, but I wouldn't call it a serious game for people who are die hard racing game fans. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if that's what you're looking for, this game probably won't suit you. As always, rent or try before you buy, it'll save you grief in the long run.
