This game is intended to be played with two players, like the board game, or you can play it against the computer, who is aptly named, Maven! Let me tell you something about Maven..... she cheats!
I had an unfortunate experience with the e-mail Scrabble game I purchased about a year ago, so I bought this version, to play alone! I was very happy to find out that I could at least play against the computer, if not my older sister!
When you set up the game to play alone, you choose the skill of your partner. You can choose a beginner, someone moderately experienced in playing, or an expert. of course, if you play the beginner, you'll beat their pants off. It's not fair. So you have to choose the level that you actually play at, unless you want to get your pants beaten off, then choose advanced, and watch Maven Kick yer Butt!
I am also rather tempted to cheat when I play this version of the game. There is a hint window that you can open. It will tell you gradually, in steps, what the best move is for you to make. But fight the temptation, because then it feels like cheating, and not like playing. If you win, it hardly counts, right!
Well, Maven cheats! There is no way that she knows all of these words! There are words that i never heard of, and certainly no one who isn't an experienced nuclear physicist would know! There are challenges, but only Maven can challenge you! Beware!
The game has e-mail capabilities. Inotherwords; you can play a game of Scrabble with someone,by sending it back and forth via e-mail, however, as I learned, you can't do that with certain internet service providers!
The best parts of the game, are the fact that is scores for you, and you dob't have to do all that doubling, and tripling. The game gets boring rather quickly, and it's best playing once in a while.
I pais about $30 for this game, at Staples, and I suggest finding it on sale or on Ebay. It's not worth that much money, to me anyway!
