Pros: It's Microprose
Cons: It's ruined the greatest Microprose Game ever by adding too many graphics, etc.

| Carrisford's Full Review: Railroad Tycoon 2 for Windows |
I was thrilled when I got my copy of Railroad Tycoon II. I had played the original for years and years and have been trying to play it still despite obviously dated graphics. When I attempted to play RT II, however, I was disappointed. My computer simply was not happy in its attempt to take all of the massive pictures on this new version. Even if it could have handled them, however, I found the pictures and new features of the game to be simply distractions. In the original game, building railroads and competing was the key--it was fast, easy, and fun. I cheered whenever a new train was available and grumbled when a competitor attempted to buy my stock. The new version was painfully slow and dull. The "fun" of the game has been lost in this attempt to be "neater" looking with "better" graphics. Save your money and get a copy of Railroad Tycoon (NOT Railroad Tycoon II or Railroad Tycoon Deluxe) if you want a game that you'll play for years and years and years instead of just another box of "eye candy."
