| Andrew0124's Full Review: Final Fantasy VIII for PlayStation 1 |
Final Fantasy VIII is really beyond description. When I bought this game, I was sure this would certainly be a good game--it's from Square anyway. And when I saw the opening animation of this game, I was really shocked! It's like a movie. The quality is extremely good and moreover, it explains some story of this game-how Scoul got his scar, the weapon "gunblade"....etc.
However, when I started to play, to my disappointment, the quality of the pictures is not as good though--it's said that it's due to the limitation of PS. Despite of this, the game is still great!
The story from the "Garden", and we players try to get admitted to be Seeds......we'll find out the destiny pulls the friends together even though they forgot each other. And we have to fight both at present and in the past(it's a great story and I don't bother to speak about the details. ^_^)
Again, as I said in FF VII, one of the characteristics of FF series is its summoning system. In FF VIII, Square made a great move about this system--like the player, these so called "Guardian Forces" summonable monsters will level up too! It increases much more fun and variety of this game.
I believe lots of you have seen the commercial of this game. The visual arts is really beyond description. I really love it. Then how about the sound? Let me put it this way, in Japan, the soundtracks of FF series are always in the list of best hits. In FF VIII, when Scoul saves the girl and both of them head back to the Earth, you can even hear the theme "Eyes on me" by Faye Wang. The couple talk about their feelings to each other with the beautiful song as the background music--oh man, this is like a movie!
I would say this is a must-play RPG game--Play it or regret!
