Whose Fault?

Frankly, the issue really boils down to one thing: parents. What kids learn, and how they perceive their world is, for the most part, up to parents. There was a time in my childhood where whenever I was awake I was watching the roadrunner beat the coyote senseless, albeit indirectly. The point is, I knew better than to try anything like what I had seen on a person, as entertaining as it all was (and still is). If it wasn't for my parents, I may very well be launching ACME rockets at my friends now.
I don't think that it is mere coincidence that the less parenting there is going on in society, the more people get up in arms about what is portrayed in the media. And politicians eat it up. So many of them cater to parents that don't parent. Taking care of the kid is synonymous to getting a tape from Blockbuster and plopping the kid down in front of it the set. Well, my mom and dad didn't do that, and I don't expect to, either. We live in a world of violence. But, we live in a world of much less violence than our parents had to grow up in.
What should be done is simple. Parents should spend more time instilling values into their kids themselves rather than leaving it up to a sterilized populace.
