A kids point of view
Feb 05 '00
First off, I'm 15 and have been playing games since I was 5. I like games where I can shoot someone in the head without him knowing. But, do I go out and do the same in real life? Do I pick up the nearest gun and blow one of my schoolmates heads into a bloody pulp. HELL NO!!! Why? Because I know the difference between reality and fantasy.
The kids at Columbine were obviously unhinged. I get picked on in school, but I don't want to blow my tormentors brains out. I tired of parents blaming all of their kids problems on other things, when it's the parents that screwed up. If someone goes out on a killing spree, it's always the media.
I've played games where I wield a gun and shoot enemy soldiers dead, where I take on the role of a sniper, or where I'm a medevil warrior fighting to the death. But I know it's all fake. I've played Mortal Kombat when I was 7 or 8, and knew it wasn't real. Kids know right from wrong, and I know this because I am a kid.
