My mother is a Scrabble nut. There is no denying that she is addicted to those cute little square tiles. Unfortunately, no one in our family enjoys playing the word-based board game quite as much as she does. She became so desperate to play that she even devised a way to play against herself. Now if you ever have watched someone play solitaire Scrabble, it's pretty sad. I had come to the conclusion that she was truly a Scrabble-aholic and needed desperate help.
Fortunately for her, Hasbro Interactive has a version of Scrabble that can be played on your PC. This allows for my mother to play against the computer, nicknamed "Maven." In all seriousness, this game is definitely a must-buy for anyone who enjoys Scrabble, but doesn't always have the extra people around to play with them. The graphics are top notch, and there are many different music selections to chose from. You can even switch the background from a forest setting to an outer-space setting. There is a dictionary built in to the computer, and it will even give you hints about any move if you are totally stuck.
Also "Maven" is quite adjustable. Begin playing against the computer at a very easy level, and work your way up to a more difficult opponent as your vocabulary increases. So as you get better, you can make your opponent better, keeping the challenge alive for a long time. And if you have somebody to play against, that's great! Just like the board game, there are up to 4 players that can play.
So please, if you know anyone who suffers from an addiction to Scrabble, do that person a big favor and buy them Hasbro's Scrabble for your PC!
