No more sweaters and goofy clothes please!

Dec 07 '99 (Updated Mar 27 '00)

Okay when I was a teenager (which was too long ago), I always remembered getting gifts that I couldn't stand. My parents and family members always seemed to assault me with clothing that I would never wear, but I'd be forced to wear at least once in my lifetime to please them. Parents always seem to like to inflict their own taste in clothing upon their children. So to save your special teenager some grief of yet receiving another sweater with pink fuzzies on it, or another plaid shirt, and making them feel the guilt of wearing the item only once in their lifetime (this is when you make them try it on after they open their present), here's some surefire gifts that I wish my parents and family members had some insight into.

1. Ask their best friend/sibling if there is anything they mentioned to them that they are dying to have.
2. Pay attention to when they beg you to buy certain things that you for some reason said no at the time.
3. Cash rocks any teenagers boat.
4. Gift certificates from their favorite places is always a sure bet, teenagers definitely like to make their own choices.
5. Ask them to make a wish list (a big list preferably) a choose your election from there.
6. 2 Tickets to a rock concert of their favorite artist so they can take their best friend.
