What To Send Mom

Nov 29 '00

I don't know about your mom, but mine has everything she could possibly need and then some. What to get her for Christmas each year has always been a challenge. This year I made a decision that I think will make it easy on me, something she will look forward to each year. ........................................NOTE; I USE WEBTV AND CANNOT PARAGRAPH SO I USE DOTS......................................................................................................................................................I used my trusty FIGI's catalog and sent her several tins of unusual sweets. One is a tin of chocolate covered blueberries and another of chocolate covered Bing cherries. The other a tin of chocolate, caramel, cashew nut clusters. They weren't too expensive...under $20 a tin...and I don't have to pay for them til February 2001. ....................................................................................................................................................When I returned home this evening there was a message on my answering machine that she had received my gifts and was "tickled" with them, in fact she was going to share them with her bridge group who was coming by the next day. I must be sure to remind her to save a couple pieces of each variety for me and bring them with her when she visits me in February. ................................................................................................................................................A fairly inexpensive gift that I buy each year for my four brothers and sisters is a Hallmark ornament. One year I sent Howdy Doody...they loved him, we all have such fond memories of the TV show. This year they will get Marilyn Monroe in her famous pose from the Seven Year Itch, over the windy grate. I bought these two years ago when I bought Howdy Doody, but am just now getting around to sending them. If you wait til the day after Xmas, the Hallmark ornaments are half price (at least at most Hallmark stores.) Of course you take the chance that the ones you want will be gone, but usually there are still a lot to choose from. Just a few thoughts for inexpensive and easy gift giving.
