My first suggestion is get anything with glitter. Preteens love the glitter nailpolish, lipbalm, hairclips, pens, stickers and body lotion. Please believe me with this that glitter is the way to go.
Another suggestion are magazines. Teen People and Teen are appropriate for your daughter to look at the latest fashions, tv stars, and music groups. They also have great articles that deal with teenage issues your daughter can relate to. Even as a parent of a preteen/teen daughter you can take a glance in the magazines to get a understanding of what is hot and what is not.
My final suggestion are those beaded bracelets. I teach middle school children and those are THEE hot item for this year. They come in every color imaginable and for about $3-$5 a bracelet they are definitely a bargain.
So head on out to the nearest mall and purchase these great gifts for your preteen daughter. She might even give you a hug and a kiss on the cheek in return!
