Pros: A great concept, nice for those with a light flow, no risk of TSS. Cons: Messy, can be hard to insert properly, messy.
PREFACE This is a review of a feminine product. It is not for the squeamish, sensitive or those who are offended by female body functions. This review contains frank and sensitive information about the Instead SoftCap Feminine Protection ...

Pros: truly comfortable, no leaks Cons: difficult to get used to, non-biodegradable
A couple of months ago, I was perusing the "Feminine Hygiene" aisle of my local drug store when I happened upon an unfamiliar item. As I read the packaging of the Instead Feminine Protection Cup, I knew I had to try it. Ultrafem, the...

Pros: easy to insert, offers good protection, can be worn longer than other methods. Cons: Can be MESSY and time consuming to remove.
I'm one of those skeptics who took forever just to change over to tampons, so when I heard 'menstrual cup', I was a little cynical.... I have been pleasantly surprised. For the most part, you can't feel the cup at all. I did, however, start to feel a ...

Pros: No odor. Sex during period isn't messy! Cons: Sometimes messy to remove.
I've been using this product for about 2 years, on the recommendation of my mother. It took some getting used to when I first started using it but, after a short time, I was happy that I could wear it for longer and there wasn't any odor. (Ladies, I'm...

Pros: comfortable after the first 5-10 minutes Cons: discomfort, extremely hard to remove, leekage
I had heard about reusable menstrual cups before from friends who lived in countries with undeveloped waste management. The idea has intrigued me for a couple of years now, so when I saw Instead disposable cups at Rite Aid I was excited to try something ...

Pros: Long wear, comfortable Cons: Messy
I love, love, love these cups. Think Elaine in the Seinfeld episode with the Today sponge. I would definitely stockpile these if there was any possibility of discontinuation. I have rarely experienced leaks while wearing Instead. As long as I've ...

Pros: you can wear this up to 12 hours before changing it
Cons: it leaks
constantly worried that it was gonna pop out of place
I had come across this product thru the internet. After some time I decided to go to a regular store and purchase it from there. Not all drug stores carry this product. I was very excited to try this out and watched the video on their website ...

Pros: very very clean feeling, no irritation as with tampon string Cons: sometimes messy to remove, hello soap!
This is a seriously great product. Instead is exactly what it says it is and I would most highly recommend this product to any female, whether satisfied or not with pads or tampons. It can be a little messy upon emptying, but that is easily remedied by...

Pros: Can't feel them at all, no odor, sometimes can wear up to 12 hours Cons: Leaks (and big ones, too!), not for the squeamish - wear gloves!!!
I've been using Instead cups for, gosh, almost 10 years now, and up until a year or two ago they were absolute miracles. For the first 8 years or so, the Instead cups were made of a thick soft rubbery material, which ensured up to 12 hours of leak-free ...

Pros: Easy insert/removal; saved my dignity; inexpensive; passed the 12 hour test Cons: Don't use on light days - drying hurts; not available everywhere
Years ago, when Instead used to advertise on late night commercials, I ordered and used Instead. It worked like a charm and I loved it. But, for some reason I stopped using them. Recently, I'd say in the last year or two, my cycles have been grossly ...

Pros: Clean. Inexpensive. Can have sex with it. Cons: Nothing!
I saw this product at the store while looking for my usual tampons (which I always thought were ineffective and smelly) and I immediately thought, "if these things work as promised this will be the best thing that ever happened to women!" And it's true. ...

Pros: Can't feel it. Cons: Messy removal.
I decided to try Instead because I recently have been having heavier periods and didn't want to be always changing pads or tampons. (I was soaking through a tampon with a pad in 2 hours on my heavy days) Plus I really like the idea of not filling up the ...

It has changed my life!
by amcwoods ,Sep 19 '03
Pros: * You can work out, have sex, and not worry. Cons: *They are hard to use the first few times, but worth learning!
Instead is truly the best thing to be introduced for feminine protection. It has made my period something I rarely think about, instead of something I dread and fear every time I awaken or stand after a long meeting. I feel clean and never worry about what I am going to wear or when I am going to work out. Instead is the perfect name for this product--instead of having to completely change your life once a month, instead of adding stress, instead of worrying about leaking, instead of feeling dread--instead I feel confident, instead I feel clean, instead I feel like my life does not have to revolve around whether I need to change my tampon right now.

doesn't work if your uterus is tipped
by jljwj ,Nov 16 '03
Pros: It is comfortable. Cons: Doesn't work if uterus is tipped, not biodegradable.
I was so excited about this product for all the wonderful reasons listed in the previous reviews. But, I have a tipped uterus, a condition listed on their web site that means Instead won't work for me. I tried it anyway, and of course it didn't work for me. I am utterly disappointed. It is very comfortable. Being an OB user, I had no problems with insertion and removal
I am going to try something called the "Divacup." It is manufactured in Canada, and it is reusable so you don't add more junk to the landfills. The down sides are that you do have to clean it, and you can't have sex with it.

No Problem w/Tipped Uterus For Me
by beadme2it ,Jan 12 '04
Pros: No leaks, no pain, no odor, long-lasting... Cons: Can't think of any except they're hard to find.
I had reviewed this b4 because I think this product is FANTASTIC!!! I just read a review from someone with a tipped uterus who can't use it. I'm very surprised - I also have a tipped uterus and have NO PROBLEM whatsoever.
Everyone is built differently, however. I would just encourage EVERYONE (tipped uterus or not) to give them a try. All I know is, it works GREAT for me!!!
