Pros: Extremely large capacity, Ease of use, Sleek Design Cons: Not so great when using powder detergent
For years and years I have had standard sized top loading washing machines with those huge agitators located in the center of the basket. Since I sell Whirlpool and Kitchenaid products to my clients when they purchase their new homes, I tend to hear...

Pros: Capacity, cleaning ability (when it works) Cons: unreliable pump, rust, drum repairs, noisy as time goes by.
My previous review was very positive and while initially thrilled with my purchase, I have now gone through three pumps on this machine and two service calls unrelated to pump. One of the repairs was to fix the inner drum and another to adjust the outer ...

Pros: None. The most craptacular washer we have ever owned. It does nothing correctly, everything poorly. Cons: Dingy whites, streaks, stains, bleach spots, poor support, expensive, poor design.
This is the worst washer ever. We purchased this washer 2 years ago after listening to the hype: Uses less water and electricity, is gentler on clothes due to the revolutionary new agitator design, etc. Well this washer has been nothing short of a ...

Pros: It's still under warranty. Cons: Doesn't clean clothes, leaves stains, MOLDY smell, tears up often!
My washing machine of 8 years finally bit the dust in 2001. Off to the Sears store I go to purchase another machine and was talked into buying the "Kenmore Elite Calypso" I was told by the Sears rep. that the Calypso was the best machine on the market ...

Pros: The best thing I can say about it was that it was free. Cons: Do not use powdered soap! Difficult to disassemble. Internal components need constant replacement.
Update 8/13/2007: With this being my first review .. I received some feedback asking (effectively) "Well, okay, so its high-maintenence but.. when it does work, tell us about its features and functionality." Happy to oblige, sorry for the oversight. ...

Pros: Numerous wash cycles and settings, Cleaning power and efficiency is amazing, Looks great. Cons: A little noisy on heavy loads? Two of the cycles are a little long.
I really don't see how people have a problem with this washing machine! It is a wonderful addition to our family of four. After narrowing down our selections on Shopping.com for the criteria we were looking for, I was left with the Whirlpool Calypso ...

Pros: easy to use, 3.4 cu.ft. capacity, high efficiency washer, concentrated sudsing action to pre-treat wash Cons: price, not good for washing pet blankets, bleach spots, must dilute softener
In July 2001, I purchased Whirlpool's new Calypso washing machine model GVW9959KL along with the matching dryer. I decided to buy Whirlpool's Calypso based on Consumer Report's # 1 performance rating. The Calypso has a 3.4 cu. ft. capacity. There is...

Pros: Looks good, but looks are deceiving! Cons: Poor design, moldy smell, ruins clothes by leaving greasy marks, expensive repairs, too noisy!
I originally purchased my Calypso washer four years ago. I purchased it after researching washers and finding a favorable review from consumer reports. I liked the top loading feature, the way it looked, and that it was energy efficient. It claimed ...

Pros: Touchpad Controls, Ultra capacity, no agitator Cons: price, reliability problems, rust!
This washer works differently than most washers being it has no agitator. A wash plate on the bottom of the basket creates a motion that rolls, lifts, and bounces the clothes through a water and detergent mixture that is continuously reapplied. The ...

Pros: Wow! Super capacity, super cleaning, uses less water Cons: Condensation on inside of lid
Last year, I bought a brand-new Whirlpool and loved it. When we moved this summer, I had to leave it behind. I went into Lowe's in our new town, intending to replace it with the same model. However, the Calypso caught my eye! I am a gadget junkie, ...

Pros: None! Cons: This machine rips and twist cloths. Doesn't rinse through. Major problem with the newtator.
I purchased the Whirlpool Calypso Washer machine 8/12/01. I was told this is the best machine on the market. It was supposed to be gentle on your clothes. This machine is supposed to clean your clothes better then the old standard washer. All the...

Pros: Excellent job cleaning, quiet, uses a small amount of water and detergent Cons: Slightly pricey but worth it
After doing a lot of homework in researching a new washer and dryer we settled on the Calypso. We reviewed all of the articles we could find and this seemed to be the best product for the price. We have had the washer for more than 6 months and I can...

Pros: Nice control panel and appearance. Uses less water than a traditional top loader. Cons: Doesn't get heavy soil clean. Leaves whites dingy.
Long cycle times. No fixes from Whirlpool.
Our new Calypso washer does not get dirt and grit washed out of clothes!! It cleans regular soil and stains fairly well (whites are somewhat dingy even with "HE" detergent), but fails miserably on removing dirt, grit, grime, lint and other particles. ...
