Pros: nothing Cons: poor service, rude people, and a whole lot more!
First of all let me say I had no choice in the Company that moved us. My husband is in the U.S. Navy, and they assigned Allied to come out. If I would have had a choice it would not have been Allied.
We have moved about six times in the last...

Pros: Courteous, Willing to Help Fix Problems, Quick Cons: Expensive, Lost Several Items
Hi there; just wanted to share a (mostly) positive experience I just had with a moving company, Allied/Berger.
My wife & I moved from Austin to Savannah; we worked through Allied/Berger, after comparing them to Atlas & Stevens Van Lines. All...

Pros: All the taxpayers paid for it, not me Cons: Damages, laziness, bad customer service
I consider myself fairly experienced with movers. I've moved seven times in the past six years, five times with professional movers and twice with multiple shipments and storage. The government paid for the movers so one can automatically assume that...

Pros: It was paid for Cons: Insulting workers, little care of furniture,
This story begins when we were told we were being transferred (again) after living in the house for 18 months. Maybe this did not put us in the greatest frame of mind, for it was our second move in two years.
The move was paid for from...

Pros: Estimator for moving cost was prompt, efficient, and courteous. Furniture was packed and moved quickly. Cons: Estimator did not return messages, did not pass information on, movers did not think ahead.
Allied Van Lines was my first professional moving experience; all the other moves I've made in my adult life were done by myself with my own car, or a rented van. Overall the experience was decent, but there were some aspects of it that need...

Pros: I didn't have to rope in friends and family. Cons: No way to make them work faster.
I just got here to see if moving companies were reviewed on Epinions. Once I saw that they were, and saw that there were a number of reviews on Allied, I HAD TO share my experience with them even though it was over ten years ago. It should prove that...

Pros: Allied is an excellent company for all. This company is the oldest in America. Cons: The internet is not a tool to be used for a great move. Call instead.
The perspective of a lot of a movers customers are that the movers themselves either do not care or they are un professional. My family has been in the moving and storage industry for almost fifty years and I can say that there are some valid points to ...

Pros: Careful and courteous movers, came in under-budget Cons: Charges for actual travel time, expensive (as all legitimate movers are).
Our move in October 2006 was a local move: from a suburb just outside Chicago, Illinois to an outlying area 40 miles west of the city, a total of maybe 32 miles one way. We were moving from a 2BR/1BA, 1100 sq. ft. house, with full attic and basement and ...

Pros: They picked up and delivered on time. Cons: They lost a big chunk of my things!
I used Allied Van Lines for a move from northwestern Louisiana to southern Florida early in 2000.
The pickup went without much problem; they arrived on schedule in the morning. I told them originally I wanted to pack my own stuff, and had...

Pros: No pros, in fact, quite unprofessional. Large faceless corporation with low grade salesmen. Cons: Alleged Binding Not to Exceed contract disadvantageous for customers?!
I'm writing this review because the sales guy said you can't trust the internet. Allied Berger: It's not that we couldn't trust you, it's that you were untrustable! Intro: our move is for a medium to large house 4 bedrooms, lots of books, lots of ...

Pros: Nothing broke, friendly staff, delivered goods on time Cons: Almost went thousands over budget, wasted time, slow to load truck
Boy was I naive when I did my first cross country move in '96. My husband got a new job and the company was giving us $10,000 to cover the costs - I agreed to the move but said I would not lift a finger to pack or take apart things as I had three kids...

Pros: The judge ruled completely in our favor and would have awarded us more if able. Cons: They destroy your belongings and refuse to pay your claim even with insurance.
In the last several years we have averaged moving nearly once a year or more. We have used all of the major moving companies and have had only one bad experience. Or should I say horrible nightmare experience that took 2 years to settle after taking...

Pros: courteous workers, efficient, worked quickly Cons: all locations are probably not this good
There are a lot of things that are exciting about a job change. Moving is not one of them. When you are forced to take all of your belongings and put them into a large truck it can be a harrowing experience. As someone who is completing his second...

Pros: packed pretty well Cons: tiiiiiiiime is on their side, yes it is...
Alright, so my husband is in the military and I didn't have to pay for their services. But if I did, I'd be pretty upset at how LONG it took. I lived in a one bedroom apartment. Just me and my baby. Hardly had anything at all, and they arrived (on time)...

Pros: NONE Cons: Price Gougers
I used Allied to move a portion of my mother's things from Memphis to New York and although my sister could only recommend a good local mover, I needed a company that operated interstate. I chose Allied because it is a national company and I was hesitant...
