3/8 & 1/2-inch versions break the same
by drmartydvm ,Nov 09 '08
Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Vital parts made of thin plastic. Kmart quality on a formerly good name.
Have owned both 1/2" and 3/8" drive versions: Both broke within 2 years of purchase at the adjusting lock ring, made of plastic. The warranty is only 1 year, not the standard Craftsman lifetime, or satisfaction guarantee warrantee. Save up your money to purchase a better brand, even for occasional use.

Breaks easily if dropped - and only 90 day warranty
by johnnyu9999 ,Jun 16 '07
Pros: Nice while it lasts Cons: Breaks way too easily, and warranty is terrible (90 days)
Had this for about 7 months and dropped it from about 18 inches onto the garage floor. It broke - wouldn't click any more when the desired torque was reached, making it useless. I had always assumed that Sears Craftsman tools had a lifetime warranty, which is why I ponied up the $109 for this thing. Come to find out the warranty is only 90 days on this tool, unless you can prove that the defect was due to original workmanship flaws (even then its only 1 year replacement guarantee). Since I had dropped it, I was out of luck. Don't buy this piece of crap. Dropping it will happen (as it does to all tools). Then you're really torqued! Buy this at your own risk - Sears must know its a piece of crap otherwise they would have made a better warranty.
