Pros: table size, drilling capacity, speed range choices.
Cons: sloppy spindle clearances, faulty: chuck, arbor, table slots, idler pulley bearings, cost
This press is not worth the extra cost over a comparable chinese press like the Grizzly, etc. The first problem I noticed was the wobble in the drill chuck and MT#3 adapter.
After buying and installing a quality chuck and adapter, that problem was pretty much solved. Other problems include incredible amount of slop in the spindle mechanism, and while under power the press sounds like a coffee can full of marbles rattling around. The idler belt pulley in the top of the unit has a lot of play in the bearings, and does not run true unless you have the belt tension set very low. The T-slotted table is very badly done. Edges of the slots are ragged and improperly ground, and standard T-slot clamping kits do not fit. You will have to regrind the slot edges to straighten and widen them to actually use them as intended. Delta's quality control is very lax and sloppy. Either save some money and buy a cheaper off brand version of this press, or spend a little more and step up in quality to a better name brand unit.
