I bought this item to supplement my using the 11-cup version that is both heavier and more cumbersome to clean. My wife went on the South Beach diet and this gadget was perfect for pesto, and mincing lots of the requirements of items on the menu. I loved it. Quick out of the pantry, throw the stuff in and zoom, zoom, you're done. I went a little too far when i tried to grate Parmesan cheese. I cut the wedge into 1 inch size cubes and placed 4-5 in the machine. halfway through the process, a horrible noise was heard and the blase just stopped dead in its tracks. I Removed the stuck cheese and tried with nothing in the bowl. Lots of noise and no spin. Oh no!!

I was more upset with myself in trying to push the machine beyond its limits. I loved the machine so much I bought another one and am more careful on how hard to push it. I now do Parmesan in its big brother.

I was looking for a small, countertop food processor and selected Cuisinart for the following reasons: (1) my experience with Cuisinart products--I have a large Cuisinart food processor that I've used for 20 years with NO problems; (2) the small size of the processor; (3) the large work bowl; (4) the ease of making salsa, etc.; and (5) the real reason ... this is one of the few countertop models that grinds Italian grating cheese. While the unit is a bit loud when it runs, it's the best countertop model that I've used. It's very easy to clean (even though the scale rating of 5 that I entered is not shown in the table to the left). I love this machine and would buy a Cuisinart Mini-Prep again.
