If you need a good flashlight. If you hunt, fish, camp, boat, pilot, or take road trips, you need a GREAT Flashlight. For maximum brightness under $100.00, look at the Streamlight SL-20-XP. The tough polymer XP and its aircraft aluminum brother, the SL-20-X are the preferred flashlights for public safety organizations.
It is BRIGHT. About 25,000 candlepower, and 30,000 candlepower for the 20-X. It's light is very White and the focus is unmatched by competitors. Streamlight specially designs the reflector. It has a computer-designed reflector mated to a Bright Halogen Bulb, which simultaneously projects an intense white spot and mild flood.
It is rechargeable and comes with a recharging mount that fits in your house (110 v) or car (12v). The included battery can be recharged ONE THOUSAND TIMES. (Compute those savings over buying batteries)
It has a self-cleaning switch, Dual charging indicators, bulletproof Lexan Lens & Lifetime Warranty.
It is not as pretty as a Maglight ML-5000 but the output is better. Why? The Maglight ML-5000 uses a crystal lens and a focusing system in the head. You'd think this would be better but the focusing system must suspend the bulb while the head turns on threads, thus raising and lowering the reflector around the bulb, Also, The Maglight uses a filament that is visible in the output. It looks, well, "screwy" Literally.(although one benefit of the Maglight ML-5000 over the Streamlight is it's federal gaseous environment explosion rating to 30,000 feet)
You do not have to be a policeman to get one. You just call your local police supply or search the internet. The police supply companies compete fiercely on price so be sure and shop around.
