A appliance warranty protects you for breakdowns which won't happen if you have a quality product...
Most manufacturers have a 1year warranty included for the item. Beyond that, you are making money for the store in which you bought it from.
Yes, things do happen. But the one item which broke, compared to the 10 items which didn't, you easily saved enough money in warranties to buy a new one.
Plus in today's economy, there are so many offers for appliances that they make it cheaper to replace the item than to buy a warranty. And also, by the time the appliance needs to use a warranty it is outdated.
