Good Cutlery, Cuts BestJan 19 '00 Write an essay on this topic. If there's one thing you must have in your kitchen it's a good set of cutlery. Don't skimp, buy a good quality set, it will last you a lifetime and you'll never be disappointed. It's like the old saying goes 'You get what you pay for' and this is true of cutlery as well as many other products. Nothing is as upsetting as taking your knife out of the drawer, trying to cut some meat and you find that the knife is so dull that plastic knives would cut better. Good cutlery will hold an edge for a long time and they are very easy to sharpen. (Also it would be wise to purchase a sharpening stone for future needs). Believe it or not those knives you see sold at fairs and on TV, Ginsu I believe they're called, work wonderfully. I also have never found one that needs sharpening. This is just one knife but it would be worth it to add it to your set. You should also have a frozen food knife. This is also good for cutting thru chicken bones (a common use around here especially for wings). Don't go to a discount store, go to a good chain like Filenes, J.C. Penney housewares, or even Sears. You don't have to go to those Cutlery stores because you'll probably end up paying too much. |
