Frig shopping is Kool

Apr 03 '00

Now here is some information I could have used when I purchased my first refrigerator. I was one of those people who didn't think frig shopping was all that exciting. I didn't care about all the bells and whistles in an appliance such as this. I was way to pragmatic. But when it came time to buy our second frig, I decided I was going to take the time to shop around and get something I really liked. After all, this is a long lasting item and not something you want to over spend on or repair every 2 years. I agree with one reviewer who says buy for the size of your family. So here is my list:

1. Think of the age of your kids and do you want them to be able to get into the frig to get their own food?
2. Does the model accomodate your eating habits? ie: what do your reach for most?
3. Is it going to be EASY to clean...I recommend glass shelves.
4. Do you need a bigger frig or bigger freezer?
5. Do you realize how nice it is to have the frig at eye level as opposed to the freezer which you get into less?
6. Measure, measure, measure! Make sure you have room for your new model...I learned the hard way...and now my cabinet has a section sliced out of it.
7. Reputation of the model...research models on epinions!
