This is my first serger, so I'm pretty new to serging. I was lucky and got a great price at the March '00 sewing show in Puyallup, WA. I have done several things and everything I've done has been a breeze until I tried to sew a Polar Fleece top. I had a heck of a time getting the fabric to match edges at the end of the fabric. It could be up to 1/4" off. Off I went to the dealer, thinking I was the one doing something wrong. Nope, it's the machine! I guess the Elna's tend to "push" the top fabric a bit, so all you can do is play with it until it gets "close". For the money I would think it would be right on.

On the plus side, threading is so easy, I couldn't believe it. Changing the threads is always a chore, but because of the ease of threading, it's really no big deal. I'm still learning a lot of the stitches, but am excited about all the embellishments I will be able to do. Plus you can upgrade with the cards and save your own personal stitches too. Threading the needles is great because of the needle lift, and it has lots of safety features, so it won't start until everything is in it's closed or put back in place.
I'll try to update as I learn more.
