| mjgroff's Full Review: Tefal 8743 Avante Toaster |
Making toast isn't exactly rocket science. It was pretty much perfected decades ago. Unlike other appliances that genuinely continue to improve through innovation, toasters have only gotten better looking and more gimmicky. What is the difference between defrost and regular toasting with a low temperature? None I can see.
It may make me shallow but I bought this machine primarily because I thought it looked the best. Many other models have all the same capabilities. Their slots were just as wide, their temperature control just as precise, their toasting just as even, their defrost just as defrosting, their crumbs as easy to remove, their surfaces as easy to clean and their construction as durable. But none looked as sexy as the Avante.
It has only one innovative feature that distinguishes it. Its' extra high lift lever lets you easily get a hold of short items like english muffins with out burning your fingers.
I would rather have this unique feature and the more gimmicky ones (like defrost) than not. So, combined with its sexy appearance I feel the Avant is worth the money even though it does the same job as an $10 toaster.
When comparing it with similar models the one unique feature and styling makes it a winner.
