Slicing and dicing couldn’t be easier with Boerner’s V-Slicer.This handy kitchen device is made in Germany and is versatile in preparing vegetables many different ways, like, julienne, slicing, dicing, chopping, and shredding. It comes with three blades, the V/Frame blade, Julienne Insert (thin) blade and the Julienne Insert (Thick) blade. The thick blade is used for thick sliced potatoes for scalloped potatoes and baked dishes. Sliced tomatoes for salads, onions for batter dipped onion rings, zucchini, mushrooms and eggplant for stir-fries. Sliced carrots for soups, apples for pies strawberries for desserts and fruits for fruit salads.
A safety holder is provided to hold food in place to protect your fingers from the extremely sharp blades. The device also comes with a thick and thin insert for desired cuts. The thin julienne insert for salads, shoestring cuts and for dicing. The thick Julienne insert should be used for vegetables, cheese sticks and chopping.
I used the thin Julienne blade to cut up red and green peppers for my stir-fry and it did an excellent job. If you prefer a larger cut, use the thick Julienne blade. I especially like how quickly I can prepare a tray of raw vegetables for dipping or for a salad. It does a terrific job on slicing very thin tomatoes too. The more you use it, the more confident you become in using this tool safely. It comes with a multi-box that is a self-standing holder for your slicer and blades or you can mount it on a wall.
I found this V-Slicer in a Betty Crocker catalog and it sells for $44.95 retail, I purchased it for $29.95 plus 80 points. If you are familiar with Betty Crocker coupons, which are printed on various baking products, these points can be saved and used to reduce the retail price of many items in Betty Crocker’s catalog. To receive a Betty Crocker catalog you can visit their website, bettycrocker.com and request a catalog. They will send you 500 bonus points with the catalog, which is a good deal of points. I was able to buy six items without using all of the 500 points.
