Appetizer: Hot Sausage & Cheese PuffsAug 01 '00 Write an essay on this topic. This one is so easy, but it gets rave reviews whenever you put them out at a party. The longest part of this recipe is rolling the balls... get the kids to help... they will love it. You will need: 1 lb. hot (or sweet) Italian sausage 1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese (shredded -- save time, but it this way) 3 cups Bisquick mix 3/4 cup water Remove skin from sausage, crumble and cook. Drain sausage and place in large mixing bowl. All all other ingredients. Mix well. (Get dirty, use your hands.) Roll 1-inch balls in your hands (about the size of a large marble) and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake in oven for 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees. This recipe makes approx. 100 sausage/cheese puffs. Best when served warm. I often roll the balls, put them on a plate with the layers separated by waxed paper, and put them in the refrigerator. Then, just before the party starts, I put them on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven. You can also put them on a flat plate (so they are not touching), freeze them, then store them in the freezer in freezer bags. (Freeze them on the plate first, so that they don't stick together while freezing.) Then, when you are planning a party, defrost however many you need and cook them up. |
