Sometimes cheap is good!

Jun 02 '00

I run an appliance and electronic store and I have to be honest, I will sell my customers what ever it is they want. Some people have got it in their head that the more expensive the better. Its my opinion that when buying a microwave the thing I believe is most important is "What are you going to use it for?". If you are like me and use it to heat up drinks, make microwave popcorn, melt cheese on nachos, or one of a dozen other assorted minor things, then I say the cheaper the better. I purchased seven years back a small Emerson microwave from Wal-Mart. It cost less than $75 and is still going today without ever being serviced. Usually the old adage "You get what you pay for" applies. Clearly in this case it didn't. And you know what folks? I don't even carry Emerson! So how's that for honest! LOL
Now if you are planning on making a 4 course meal with your microwave(which I personally don't recommend), you will want to go for the gold!
Checkout the features on a Kenmore or Panasonic. These brands carry a wide variety that will serve almost any need you can imagine. I carry in my store a Kenmore model that will hold an entire 20lb turkey! The price range starts as low as $179 and goes up from there on both these brands. Both have a good service record and I know Sears will service their brand and others in the home if the problem is not major. I think that if you are a single person like me you will get along fine with the cheaper models. Well I think that's all and you know what...I believe I will go pop myself some popcorn!
