We bought this popper after using an air popper for several years. My husband didn't like the way the popcorn tasted, kind of chewy, not like "real" popcorn, so we got rid of our air popper, and began looking for another one. We found this, and liked the idea that you didn't have to add oil, but could if you wanted to.
We've been using this two or three years or more, and we're very happy with it. It makes good popcorn, quickly, and pops nearly all the kernels. (I saw someone downgrade this popper because it didn't pop all the kernels. I don't think ANY popper can pop 100 percent of the popcorn, but I understand it also has to do with the quality of the popcorn you buy. If you're buying a cheap store brand, you might want to spend a little more for a "premium" brand, like Orville Redenbacker, before you blame your popper.) Anyway, we have never had much of a problem with that.
The popcorn comes out tasting fresh and not chewy, like it did with the air popper, and that was the best thing about this. The other is that it takes up less room than the air popper, and you can put it all in the dishwasher, so it's very easy to clean. (Except the base, and you just wipe that off with a damp cloth.) It makes clean up very easy, and since you don't use oil, the bowl doesn't get that dirty, anyway. You can use the bowl as a serving bowl, too, and don't have to dirty another dish.
I like this popper. It's easy to use, clean, and makes great tasting popcorn. You can't ask for more than that in a popcorn popper!
