| baltimorejones's Full Review: KitchenAid Slide-In Gas Range |
I had always known of KitchenAid's reputation for well-made products, so when shopping for a new range in March of '99, KitchenAid was on my list. We chose a slide-in range with convection oven. The benefits of the convection feature of this range became clear while using it at Thanksgiving and Christmas for roasting turkeys (the time is lessened by about an hour, and the turkey was more moist that with conventional roasting). Other features include a dehydrating mode and a dough-rising mode. There are two regular burners and two "high heat" burners for faster boiling and cooking. The range can calculate the temperature and time of a recipe for use with the convection feature. The other features I like are that the knobs don't have printing on them, so it won't wear or be scrubbed off. The control panel is also protected from the printing being worn out. The touch pads are easy to use. The self-cleaning oven is excellent (only a white ash is left - easy to wipe off). Children are protected from the extreme heat used in this process, because the oven door locks. The large drawer at the base of the oven is another storage area. The only thing I haven't liked is the grates on the range top - I can't seem to clean them to my satisfaction. It's a great range, and if you shop around, you can get a good deal. Really shop your local appliance stores also - we got a better price ($300 less) than from the larger chains.
