Buying a New Washing Machine is NOT a Chore!

Need a new washing machine? Well, following the tips below will make it a fun and exciting adventure, not a chore to be dreaded. Take it from me, an appliance repair tech, your washer is out there waiting for you.
#1. Decide how much you have to spend. I have two brand names I suggest to people who ask me, "Who makes the best washing machine?". Maytag is still the leader in overall quality and endurance in washing machine, if price is no option. Their "lonely Maytag repairman" representation is quite accurate. If you, however, do not have an unlimited budget, Whirlpool has a very good inexpensive product line under the "Estate" brand name. Prices vary a lot also from dealer to dealer, so check around for the best deal. Consider checking out used appliance stores also, but be sure to get at least a 90 day money-back warranty.
#2. Look at your family needs and clothing. Having all boys in the family, with lots of grass-stained jeans to wash, cries out for the most heavy-duty machine you can find. Blue jeans are THE clothing item that causes the single most wear and tear on a washer. They should be washed in a much smaller quantity than other clothing loads to get the longest use out of your machine. On the other hand, young ladies' dresses and skirts are usually made of much lighter material, and might need a gentle cycle to keep them from being ruined.
#3. Last, but not least, check out size requirements. There are options that will give you a few more inches in that laundry room, if space is a problem. All washers are not necessarily the standard 30".
All in all, buying a washer does not have to be a burden, if you take the time to consider these factors. Enjoy looking for the machine that will make your life easier!
