It is my opinion that Apple Cider Vinegar is a must have for every kitchen. It is an inexpensive, natural product, and most people do not have adverse reactions to it.
Vinegar preserves as well as flavors foods, and can be used in many recipes. There are different types of vinegars, and many flavors. All types of vinegars are low in calories.
Apple Cider Vinegar can be used in many other different ways as well, not only in the kitchen. If you keep plenty of it on hand, you can actually do without various other products, thereby saving time and money. It can be used to promote good health, or even as a cleaning product.
Here are some of the many ways vinegar can be used in your home:
Health Remedies and Prevention
• Burn Treatment: Apply cold vinegar to burns. It will stop pain, and prevent blistering. Also use for sunburn relief.
• Asthma and Allergies: Inhale mist from steaming pot of water and vinegar. Add vinegar to cold water and drink to help sore throat or congestion. Add vinegar to orange juice to resist asthma attacks.
• Drink Apple Cider Vinegar full strength or added to water to help prevent the following health problems:
--Apathy
--Obesity
--Dry Skin, Chapped Skin, Rashes
--Food Poisoning
--Headaches
--Heartburn
--Swimmer's Ear
--Bad Breath
• Shampoo Rinse Agent: Combine 1 ounce apple cider vinegar with 1 quart of distilled water. This will remove all soap, help prevent dandruff, and leave hair shiny.
• Wart or Corn Remover: Make a lotion to apply by mixing equal parts vinegar and glycerin.
• For your pet: Add vinegar to the drinking water to repel fleas and mange.

Household Cleaners
• Prevent or Get rid of Mildew: Wipe surface with vinegar.
• Window Cleaner: Mix equal parts vinegar and water.
• Drain Cleaner: Pour boiling vinegar down drain. Unclogs and Cleans.
• All-Purpose Cleaner: Use vinegar mixed with salt. Rinse well.
• Laundry Rinse Agent: Add to load of laundry. Removes all soap and prevents yellowing.
• Dishwasher Rinse Agent: Fill rinse cup with vinegar, or sprinkle on dishes before washing.
• Garbage Disposal Cleaner: Freeze vinegar in ice cube trays, then run through garbage disposal.

Cooking with Vinegar
• To prevent egg white from leaking from cracked egg while boiling, add vinegar to boiling water.
• To rid fish of fishy smell and taste, soak in vinegar before cooking.
Will also tenderize and give fish a sweeter taste.
• Add vinegar to water while boiling potatoes or rice to make them fluffier and whiter.
• Add vinegar to various condiments such as catsup or mustard. They will last longer.

• Homemade Sour Cream: Add 1 teaspoon vinegar, and 1/4 skim milk to 1 cup cottage cheese.
• Homemade Meat Tenderizer: Soak meat in vinegar overnight. Add vinegar to boiling water when boiling meat. May also use to baste meat while cooking.
• Homemade Salad Dressing: Mix with various oils for various dressings.
• Homemade Buttermilk: Mix a tablespoon of vinegar with a cup of milk. Will thicken as it stands.
• Homemade Wine Vinegar: Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 1 teaspoon of dry red wine.
• Homemade BBQ Sauce: Mix vinegar, ketchup, and spices for a great sauce.
• Homemade Flavored Vinegars: Add garlic, fruits, spices, peppers, vegetables, and flowers to make various flavors.
