A house with no microwave...
Written: Dec 19 '00
Pros:Good tasting popcorn
Cons:can not think of any......
...needs this type of Popcorn Popper... Yes, that is right we are a family of 2 adults and 4 children, and we do not own a microwave! We just recently moved into a custom home and it did not have a built in microwave, and I refuse to have one sitting on the counter, taking up valuable counter space!
About the popcorn popper that we have is a "On Top of the Stove Type", it is a Whirly Pop. It was given to us by someone who dosn't eat popcorn?
How can someone not eat popcorn. Their lose, our gain!
With four kids it is always popcorn time.
This is the most old-fashioned type. We have had it about 6 months, we use it all the time. The popcorn is as good or better than the movie theater, the smell is out of this world. The unit itself is a 2 quart pot with a lid that is two half, one lifts up for popcorn and oil to be put in. There is a crank on the side of the pot that you turn once the kernals began to pop, it moves the kernals and the oil around inside the pot. It take about 2 minutes, you keep turing until you can no longer turn, the popcorn is ready then. Yum yum, the kids just love it, and of course being a mom it is great to see them enjoy something so simple in life. No messy greasy fingers, there is hardly any oil, you use just a little when starting the popping.
These units are available in the better department stores and through catalogs, I am sure they are available online too. Get yourself a unit and you will never do microwave popcorn again!!!
