Another Secret Little WonderApr 05 '00 Write an essay on this topic.You may recall a few years back, a product that they were hocking all over the infomercial world called "Defrost Wonder". The product had many names and many different incarnations, but essentially they all did the same thing. The product consisted of a smallish black metal tray that sat in a little plastic holder. You supposedly put your frozen foods on it and it would miraculously thaw food in half the time. Well be darned if the thing works!! It actually does!!! For example I can defrost a pound of ground beef from a solid block to fully thawed on this in about 30 minutes. The product was widely available in stores as well as on t.v. They used to do this demo where they would put an ice cube on the tray and the ice cube would slide and melt on contact. I saw this and thought yeah right! the things obviously hot! NO it's not, it works somehow with heat conduction or something or other, all I know is that it works. I have had this little handy thing for several years and use it all the time. The price for mine was only 9.99, very cheap considering how handy it is. As well, it is dishwasher safe which is always nice. I can't understand why this product doesn't seem to be readily available or why more people dont seem to have them. It is an excellent little kitchen tool, so if you ever come across them pick one up. I was skeptical too until I tried it. Its worth having. In the infomercial world most things can be crapola, but this little gem, for the price and the job it does is great!  |
