One day my wife brought home this funny looking thing. It looked kind of like a dustpan with a long handle, but it wasn't. It was the Bissell 2200. This little contraption is a broom/vacuum device that works wonderfully on all types of floors.

It does not need any electricity, just good old arm movement. It works by pushing it, which rotates a brush on the middle-underside of the device. This brush picks up lose debree and dust and drops it in one of two compartments on either side of the brush. I have found that it works great on carpeting and hard floors. It works as well as a broom on a hard floor, thus no need for the broom/dust pan combo anymore. On carpeting, It will not replace the vacuum, but it makes it look presentable on the surface and is perfect for daily use. Now lugging the vacuum and pulling the cord around does not have be done so often.

The one slight problem with the Bissell 2200 is the clean up. It's not very hard to clean up, but it can make a large mess. When you open the collection cavity, the lint and dust fall out. The second clean up issue is cleaning the brush. It comes with a little comb for pulling tangled stuff out of the brush, and it works good except it can be a bit of a mess. I found this problem is solved simply by doing the cleaning outside, so that when you open it and allow the dust to fall out, you will not make a new mess.

Overall, this is a highly versatile floor-cleaning tool. It does not need electricity so you can use it anywhere. It's compact so you can store it in a small broom closet. When you consider its only $20 how can you not want to have one, that's almost the cost of the broom and dust pan it will replace. This would make a wonderful tool for any home, and I would highly recommend it for anyone with a cabin.

One final comment. My wife loves the Bissell 2200 not only because it works so well, but also because it will leave the lines on the carpeting that make it look like it has just been vacuumed. Now how can I not Give it 5 stars with results like that.
