The Only "Gee Whiz" Microwave Oven on the Planet
Written: Mar 17 '00
Pros:Great Oven, Great Setting, Great Looking, Coolest Microwave on the Planet!
Cons:NONE
What timewharp have I been living in. When I bought my first microwave in 1985 I paid $250.00 for a .600 cu. ft. oven that cooked at 700 watts with no turntable. Now you can buy an equivalent model for $79.00 and it even comes with a turntable. But I didn't want just any microwave. I wanted cool, and I was willing to pay for it! Except for one thing. Even if you have available money burning a hole in your pocket, most of it will stay there because it is rare that any microwave will cost over $200.00. Golly! But without a doubt, the coolest of the cool is the Sharp Multiple Choice microwave. It has this ultra cool, 11 line by 16 character display with a bright (and adjustable) display that gives you more info than you ever dreamed possible. When setup, the opening screen gives you the time and date, plus four categories: Cook, Reheat, Defrost, and Resource Center. Press either and you are on your way. No intimidating membrane keypad here. This unit features Sharp's "Sensor" technology that evaluates your food to give you the perfect cooking power and time. No more guessing what power level and cooking time to set. Also, the Popcorn feature is foolproof. I put a bag of Act Lite popcorn into the computer, pressed popcorn, and pressed REGULAR (a SNACK setting is also given as a choice for 1.5 ounce snack bags) and then it started. About two minutes later the most perfect popcorn kernels came pouring out. They were Picture Perfect. No burnt pieces...NONE. The bag was big and fat because virtually every kernel was popped. In fact, only three kernels were left unpopped. I'm sure you're wondering what kind of life this guy must have if he is reduced to counting unpopped kernels, but this popping perfection was such a revelation...a Popcorn Epiphany is you may! This Sharp cooks over 60 foods automatically, REHEATS with Sharp's sensor technology, DEFROSTS 8 categories of frozen foods, and has a RESOURCE CENTER for custom settings, quick recipes, Kid's Cooking, and many more. It even has an Index to access alphabetical listing of different foods and recipes. This oven is Sooooo! COOL. It also comes in other sizes: The 490 is 1.3 cu. ft. and the 590 is 1.6 cu. ft.All have 1000 watts of cooking power (more than enough). This relatively product will become the centerpiece of your kitchen, and a real eye-catcher when guests saunter into the kitchen.
