Grandma's Strawberry PieSep 05 '00 Write an essay on this topic. No one has ever made a strawberry pie quite like my grandma makes them. Now that she is almost 80 years old, I decided it was time to get the recipe from her and try it myself. I was astonished at how easy it was to prepare and make! I have made it for my family and they love it as much as they love her pie! What a wonderful compliment. The preparation time for this pie is about 10 minutes. Total cook time is about 15 minutes. It needs to sit in the refrigerator until cold but once it is cold, it is ready to serve. I have tried this same recipe using other fruits, such as raspberries, blackberries, cherries, and it works very well. Try your own variety. My next fruit to try is peach. This recipe makes one pie. I usually make two or three pies at a time and I have never had any problems making a double or triple recipe. INGREDIENTS: 1 deep dish pie crust 1 cup of sugar 1 cup of water 1/3 cup of cornstarch 1/2 small package of strawberry jello 1 quart of fresh strawberries 1 small container of Cool Whip Cook pie crust according to directions on package. Wash and cap strawberries and slice in half. Mix sugar, water and cornstarch and cook on the stove until mixture is very thick and clear. Remove from heat. Add the jello and beat until well mixed and smooth. Fold in strawberries. Mix well covering all the strawberries in the mixture. Put strawberry mixture in the cooled pie crust. Refrigerate until cold. Top with Cool Whip just before serving. That's all there is to it! Very easy and delicious! Enjoy! |
