**1-7-01 I have placed this epinion in the correct category. The only difference now that I see is that my burners are not the new kind. They are the kind that you can remove, that have the burner trays underneath. Other than that it is exactly the same.**
My Kenmore range/oven came with the apartment that we chose to rent. It was brand new, had never been used, which was wonderful for us.
I love my range, it is the best that I have ever used. It is attractive yet not too fancy, in the traditional look. It features a digital clock on the front, along with the buttons that are clearly labeled.
In addition to the clock, on/off, off/clear, bake, broil buttons, it also has a delayed start time and oven cooking time buttons (which I have yet to use) and the clean button, which is now famous in our house, lol, and I will explain it at the end of this opinion. It has a light switch on the front that you can flip on or off to see what yummy creations are baking. The burner switches are in their usual places (left front and back on the left, right front and back on the right) and on the right side there is a light that alerts you if one of the burners is on at any time.
Cleanup could not be easier. If you need to clean underneath the burners the whole top of the oven lifts up. I cover the silver pans under the burners with "pie tin" inserts that can be bought for a mere 99 cents for a 6 pack at the store. When crumbs get down in, I just remove the burners (they pull out easily), wash the silver pans with soapy water and replace them with fresh inserts.
We have used this oven for 2 years, and had only one problem with it. My son decided to "help" me bake cookies, and accidentally pushed the self clean button after the cookies were in there. Well, I panicked and called the fire department after I yanked the oven out of its spot trying to get the door open and was unsuccessful. They came, and although there was a small fire in the dish, they said there was nothing they could really do except shut off the power to the oven through the fuse box. Even then since the temperature in the oven had reached 1000 degrees they couldn't open it without breaking the oven. Thank goodness the fire went out by itself (it must have been a contained fire), and after it was all over I had a clean oven, black cookies that could be used as rocks, and a Pyrex dish that made it through with only a few scars, lol. I think that perhaps on self cleaning ovens they should have the self clean button separate from the rest of the ones to prevent this from happening.
I would recommend this product to anyone, just watch that button! :)
