Plant Pot Party Theme

My husband is in love with cooking, I love to set the table or set the theme. The quirkier the better. Our wedding cake for our Halloween wedding had bats, witches, pumpkins, and webs of course and everyone costumed for the reception.
Being a gardener I naturally saw those terra cotta planters as great table decor. They are available at Home Depot for small change. For a BBQ instead of the same old paper plates I use the planter dishes as plates. Strawberry Pots can be used to hold your BBQ tools. Fill a large terra cotta planter with ice and use it as a wine cooler. Get the picture? It doesn't stop there. At each place setting I put a mini pot with a packet of seed, a tiny bag of soil and a plant marker (popsicle stick)with the guests name on it. (This all can be adapted to a child's party and this would be their "bootie bag" gift, with adults its just something nice to take home.)
If you want to use your old pots just line them with bandanas for dry foods, or saran wrap,plastic or parchment for other foods.
Now for the food:
Crudites,celery sticks, carrot sticks, etc can be in one pot and dip can be put in another.The dip can be decorated with live herbs. ( I use a plastic cup inserted into the planters for the dip.)
Buy bread mix, preferably flavored). Wet your flowerpot thoroughly. Line your planter with parchment paper. Butter bottom piece of paper. Mix dough according to directions and fill your prepped pots. Cook @ 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. You get adorable crusty little breads. These can be done ahead. Size is up to you and your flowerpot.
Fruits and salads can be served in pots, almost anything goes, its up to you.
Put a few live potted plants or do all herbs in pots scattered around the table. A nice flowering plant as a centerpiece, an old collectable tablecloth ,old quilt, or even a flowered sheet if you have,nothing wrong with your old plastic tablecloth and you have a very "Martha" party theme.
