Purchasing Refrigerators.
Feb 07 '00
Recently I began the search for a new refrigerator. My 1970's model is finally giving out. I had no idea how many models, makes, and brands that there were out there. And Oh my goodness the prices of these major appliances. I was looking for you basic run of the mill model. Just a plain refrigerator that keeps food cold and freezes water to have ice. There were so many brands, prices, and features on each of them. How is one sapose to know what is the right one for the average family with three children. I was just baffled. I had never purchased an item of such magnitude. I searched and I learned and I researched. No one can blame the stores for their sales people were tireless with my questions, but just how does one know what is the right one? I finally decided on a plain Jane model that was not so pricey. I would love to see a magazine or at least a consumer survey available to the general public on all of the brands available. It would have been much easier to buy such an item if I had not had had to search high and low for questions and concerns on the item of choice. The companys really need to educate the consumer it is no wonder one usually only buys one of these in a lifetime if they can possibly help it......It was too hard for the average educated individual to know all there is to know about refrigerators.
