FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE

I make this for our family alot.It's pretty easy,and everyone loves it.

1 loaf day old French or Italian bread; sliced
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 c sweet cream
1 c butter
1 c brown sugar
1 c milk
8 eggs
1 c finely chopped pecans
1 tbs sugar
Layer bread in a 9x12 inch buttered pan. Mix the cream, milk, eggs,
sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg and pour over the bread. Mix the butter, brown
sugar, and pecans. Dot this mixture over the egg/bread. Cover with foil.
Refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes, covered.
* You can do this all in one day,but by leaving it in the fridge overnight,it allows the bread to absorb all of the flavor,and I think it tastes better this way.
