We purchased this product due to the high BTU output. Very efficient, mounts on the wall, easy to operate. Better than heaters that have "clays" that heat up and radiate heat, more efficient.

Upon opening the box prior to installation, I looked for directions/manual, installation bracket and screws. Found only the mounting bracket. Funny didn't think much more of that since this heater was replacing a smaller less efficient clay type one. No problem, we knew what we were doing.
Installation completed, heater lit, I felt tremendous heat output, very good, I thought, but within seconds the smoke detector alarm went off and we smelled something burning. Funny, must be the new paint in it or something.
Turned alarm off and waited around 10 minutes and lit heater again for the second time, good heat output and slight burning smell again, strange.
So I leaned over to look closely, but what did I see? Something weird about the flame, no not the flame, what was that? A diagonal line through the nice blue flame. Ah no, it was behind the flame.
Looking closer, peering into the heater with my head real close, I realized there was PAPER behind the flame. I got down on my hands and knees and looked up underneath the heater and lo and behold there was the missing manual, stuffed way up into the back of the heater, with plastic bag with the installation screws! Wow! I yanked that out of there real fast, the paper was very hot.
Rating the heater for efficiency from 1 to 10, I give it a 10. The packing I give a minus 10. That was very dangerous and stupid practice. What does the first line of the front cover say? "READ MANUAL BEFORE INSTALLING" Sure, if you can find it!
This heater is a Comfort Glow vent free LP gas wall heater. 30,000 BTU Model CGP30TB. Also can not get through to the manufactures web site www.desaint.com to inform them of this dangerous packing practice. I have tried several times.
